So you’ve had a go at the iOS game 2048, you like it, its satisfying and addictive, and you keep having one more go despite a nagging feeling that there must be a better, more logical, methodical way to play?
Well there is. You need a strategy, and I’ve got one for you.
In case you have no idea what I’m talking about, but read down to this point anyway… I’m talking about this game:
So here’s how to play.
You need to pick a corner, I like top right personally, and that is where your highest tile has to sit, then the next highest spanning outwards from there…
To achieve this, you only push up, and to the right. You still have to play the game and push tiles together where possible, but give yourself constraints as to where you push the board.
When you’re stuck and can’t push up or right, do one push to the left, back again to the right (do NOT push up in between unless absolutely necessary), this will jiggle things up and align some tiles that can then be merged, then continue as before.
There is only one cast iron rule if you want to get far in this game:
Never push down!
(Or more accurately, don’t put yourself in a situation where you have to push down, i.e. don’t fill the top three lines)
If you push the board down you run the risk of jamming a pesky 2 or 4 where your high tiles should be and you won’t get it out.
Thats all there is to it really, stick to these basic guidelines and the 2048 tile will be within your grasp.
Happy 2048ing… Let me know if this works for you.
